Ati gasit vreunul (ianis, cj, st_ature) cartea Evolutionary Creation pe internet? Sau macar varianta vulgara.

Zilele astea am dat peste articolul The Seventh-day Adventists: Heretics of American Civil Religion al lui Malcolm Bull. E o perspectiva interesanta asupra adventismului. La respectivul autor am ajuns cautand cartea Seeking a Sanctuary: Seventh-day Adventism and the American Dream scrisa in colaborare cu Keith Lockhart. Daca o are cineva in format digital i-as fi recunoscator. Google books ofera o pregustare.

Cartea a fost etichetata drept best book about the church.
"A masterpiece. It is by far the best book on Adventism that has ever appeared." -- Ronald L. Numbers

Ideea de mai jos, gasita pe wiki, m-a cumparat:
According to Lockhart, the central theme "is that Adventism represents a deviant but successful response to the general American dream of self-realization and material success."

Ianis,
stiu ca Seeking a Sanctuary este foarte buna, dar nici eu n-am gasit-o, desi in perioada in care am avut acest schimb de replici cu santaklaus pe tema cartii m-am straduit destul de mult sa o gasesc in format electronic.

Il stiti pe Robert M Price sau cartea sa intitulata "The Reason Driven Life: What Am I Here On Earth For?"
Steven Parker, gazda blogului Thinking Christian, le face amandurora o scurta prezentare.

Alta lectura obligatorie pentru osc-isti: Saving Jesus from the Church de Robin Meyers, disponibila si aici. "How can our faith become biblically responsible, intellectually honest, emotionally satisfying, and socially significant?"

Tot din prolog:

QUOTE
The first step, however, must be a step backward. We have been traveling down the creedal road of Christendom since the fourth century, when a first-century spiritual insurgency was seduced into marrying its original oppressor. Before there were bishops lounging at the table of power, there were ordinary fishermen who forsook ordinary lives to follow an itinerant sage down a path that was not obvious, sensible, or safe. He might as well have said, 鼎ome die with me.

In the beginning, the call of God was not propositional. It was experiential. It was as palpable as wine and wineskins, lost coins and frightened servants, corrupting leaven and a tearful father. Now we argue over the Trinity, the true identity of the beast in the book of Revelation, and the exact number of people who will make it into heaven. Students who once learned by following the teacher became true believers who confuse certainty with faith.

We have a sacred story that has been stolen from us, and in our time the thief is what passes for orthodoxy itself (right belief instead of right worship). Arguing over the metaphysics of Christ only divides us. But agreeing to follow the essential teachings of Jesus could unite us. We could become imitators, not believers.

Cititi numai interviul aparut in the Guardian (AC Grayling: 'How can you be a militant atheist? It's like sleeping furiously') si vizionati cele numai 5 minute si ceva ale prestatiei lui din emisiunea The Colbert Report (Stephen este si el la inaltime):

N.B.:
In SUA cartea se numeste The Good Book: A Humanist Bible, dar in UK a aparut cu titlul The Good Book: A Secular Bible. Destul de comic. smile.gif

Pentru ca am impresia ca tot n-am reusit sa va prezint ce este si ce contine de fapt aceasta lucrare, includ aici product description-ul de pe site-ul editurii care a publicat cartea in UK (Bloomsbury):

QUOTE
Drawing on the wisdom of 2,500 years of contemplative non-religious writing on all that it means to be human – from the origins of the universe to small matters of courtesy and kindness in everyday life – A. C. Grayling, Britain’s most popular and widely read philosopher, has created a secular bible.

Designed to be read as narrative and also to be dipped into for inspiration, encouragement and consolation, The Good Book offers a thoughtful, non-religious alternative to the many people who do not follow one of the world’s great religions. Instead, going back to traditions older than Christianity, and far richer and more various, including the non-theistic philosophical and literary schools of the great civilisations of both West and East, from the Greek philosophy of classical antiquity and its contemporaneous Confucian, Mencian and Mohist schools in China, down through classical Rome, the flourishing of Indian and Arab worlds, the European Renaissance and Enlightenment, the worldwide scientific discoveries of the 19th and 20th centuries to the present, Grayling collects, edits, rearranges and organises the collective secular wisdom of the world in one highly readable volume.

Citate adica versete din carte gasiti aici (updatate frecvent).

LE: am gasit si o carticica de Grayling, Against All Gods - Six Polemics on Religion and an Essay on Kindness.
